Overview

In 2009, Stepinac transitioned to an independent Catholic high school within the Archdiocese of New York, governed by its own Board of Trustees. This shift has enabled innovative curriculum development and a commitment to academic excellence. Located 30 miles north of New York City, the school serves approximately 800 students in grades 9-12 from Westchester, the Bronx, Manhattan, Rockland, and Putnam Counties, operating on a trimester system, with select senior electives following a semester schedule.
Accredited by the Middle States Association of Colleges and Schools, Stepinac offers a diverse curriculum, including honors and Advanced Placement (AP) courses, with placement based on teacher and counselor recommendations. AP students are required to take corresponding exams, and the school provides the prestigious AP Capstone Diploma program. As a pioneer in educational technology, Stepinac was among the first high schools to adopt a fully digital textbook model, integrating platforms such as REVEL, MyMathLab, Mastering Science, and Google Classroom, with Microsoft OneNote serving as the standard digital notebook. Its blended learning approach has earned recognition from Rice University and Fordham University’s Graduate School of Education, which awarded Stepinac the Executive Leadership Award for Excellence in STEAM education.
