Teachers are often the first to have information about a student’s mental and/or emotional health. Whether this information is shared verbally or in
writing, it is important that the school principal and/or a member of the guidance staff be notified when a student exhibits, reports or writes about:
· Persistent sadness and/or irritability
· Depression
· Suicidal or homicidal ideation
· Frequent aggression or “acting out”
· Frequent oppositional behavior
· Alcohol or Substance Use
· Threatens to harm self or others.
